Susanna Dashboard

Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common problems.

My site is not in the list

The list shows the sites that your Google account can access in Search Console.

  1. Check that you are signed in with the Google account that has the site in Search Console, as an owner or as a user.
  2. Check that the site is added and verified in Search Console.
  3. If the site belongs to another Google account, sign out and sign in with that one. See Account & security.

Domain properties and URL-prefix properties both work.

The first report only shows a few weeks

The last 30 days are fetched first, so that your report opens in seconds. Older months are filled in behind the scenes and appear over the next minutes. Google itself only keeps 16 months, so nothing older exists to fetch. See Data & limits.

The newest days are empty or low

Search Console runs 2 to 3 days behind, and the last days it does show can still change. Compare older dates and the numbers will match.

The numbers differ from Search Console

Small differences are normal. See the list of reasons in Data & limits. Start by comparing the same, older dates in both places.

The clicks in the table add up to less than the total

Google does not report rare searches. Their clicks are in the total but not in the queries table. See Data & limits.

A position, ATH or top page shows a dash

A dash means the number is not known. It is never a guess. A query shows a dash when it has no daily numbers yet, for example because it was only just seen. Pos.now looks back up to 14 days to find the latest day with impressions before it gives up.

“Search Console needs you to sign in again”

Google no longer accepts the access that was given to Susanna Dashboard. This happens when the access was removed in your Google account, or when Google asks you to sign in again, as it does now and then.

To fix it, open Connect Search Console and choose Sign in with Google. Your history is kept, and the days that were missed are filled in once the connection works.

“Syncing has stopped”

The rest of the message says why, in Google’s own words, and the numbers stop at the last day that came in. Most often the Google account is no longer an owner or user of the site in Search Console: ask the owner of the site to add the account again. If Google’s limit on how much can be fetched in a short time was reached, the fetch is tried again by itself later.

The CSV file shows strange characters

The file is saved as UTF-8 so that letters like ä and ö are right. If your spreadsheet still shows odd characters, open it through Data, then From text/CSV, and choose UTF-8 as the file origin.
